3 September: Singapore confirms the 2027 passenger SAF levy is still going ahead

CAAS has deferred the sustainable aviation fuel levy for air cargo by another year, but the passenger levy remains on schedule. For travellers, it applies to tickets sold from 1 October 2026 for flights departing Singapore from 1 January 2027. Economy-cabin charges range from S$1.00 for Southeast Asia to S$10.40 for the Americas, while genuine transit passengers are exempt. 29 August: AXS card top-ups end

SimplyGo says top-ups for EZ-Link and SimplyGo EZ-Link cards are no longer available at AXS Stations from 29 August 2026. This is mainly relevant to visitors who use a stored-value card rather than a contactless bank card. Ticketing kiosks, service counters and other supported top-up methods remain the places to check for current options. 17 August: Singapore River precinct measures become permanent

The Ministry of National Development has formalised revitalisation measures covering the Boat Quay Historic District, Upper Circular Road and the Clarke Quay Conservation Area after a one-year pilot. The measures affect how selected nightlife and lifestyle uses can operate in these central waterfront districts. For travellers, the practical significance is that the Singapore River continues to be actively managed as an evening dining and entertainment precinct rather than a static heritage zone. 11 August: STB and Grab push neighbourhood travel and later nights

The Singapore Tourism Board and Grab launched a three-month campaign running from August to October 2026. It includes enhanced Grab Travel Pass ride vouchers to selected precincts and after-dark discounts. Promotions can change or be exhausted, so check the current campaign conditions before building a budget around them. The broader message is useful even without a discount: Singapore's visitor strategy is increasingly encouraging travel beyond the best-known central landmarks and into individual neighbourhoods.

12 July: the Circle Line is now a complete loop

Circle Line Stage 6 opened for passenger service on 12 July 2026. Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road closed the former gap between HarbourFront and Marina Bay, giving travellers new direct rail options and reducing the need to route through some busier central interchanges. Airport and attraction notices can change by the day

Jewel Changi Airport is currently publishing temporary attraction notices, including closures affecting 30 August 2026. These are a good example of information that should not be hard-coded into a long-lived travel guide.
