Two familiar west-side Crystal Jade restaurants have disappeared within days of each other. The home-grown Chinese restaurant group confirmed that its Clementi Mall Hong Kong Kitchen ceased operations on 15 September and its Jurong Point branch closed on 18 September.
The company says the closures are part of an ongoing review of its operations and outlet network. It has not announced a Singapore exit. Instead, it says the review is intended to keep the business aligned with changing market conditions and longer-term priorities.
01 · The latest closures: Clementi Mall and Jurong Point
Crystal Jade’s Hong Kong Kitchen at The Clementi Mall stopped trading on 15 September 2026. Its Jurong Point branch followed on 18 September, according to the group’s statements to Singapore media.
For west-side diners, the practical change is immediate: those two familiar branches should no longer be treated as active options. Crystal Jade’s current online outlet list no longer includes either location.
The Clementi closure attracted extra attention because the former restaurant space was already hoarded up when reporters visited on 17 September. The important consumer point, however, is simpler: both outlets are now closed and anyone planning a visit should check the group’s live locator rather than relying on older mall or search listings.
02 · Five Crystal Jade outlets have closed in Singapore this year
The Clementi and Jurong closures are the fourth and fifth Crystal Jade shutdowns reported in Singapore in 2026. The other three are Hillion Mall, Suntec City and Great World.
The Great World outlet’s last day was 1 September. Hillion Mall and Suntec City closed earlier in the year. Taken together, the five closures show that the latest two are not isolated tenancy changes but part of the wider network review the company has acknowledged.
That does not mean every closure happened for the same immediate reason, nor does it prove financial distress. Crystal Jade’s stated position is that it is reviewing the network as part of its normal effort to align operations with market conditions and long-term business priorities.
03 · What remains: 13 restaurants across six brands
Following the latest two closures, Crystal Jade’s own Singapore listings show 13 restaurants across six brands. The group still has a meaningful local footprint rather than a token presence.
Its Hong Kong Kitchen brand now has four Singapore locations listed: Causeway Point, Takashimaya Shopping Centre, One Holland Village and Tampines 1. Other active concepts include Crystal Jade Palace, Crystal Jade Golden Palace, Crystal Jade Pavilion, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao and CJ GO.
Because restaurant directories can lag behind real-world closures, it is worth checking Crystal Jade’s own website on the day you travel. That is especially sensible for diners who previously used Clementi Mall or Jurong Point as their default branch.
04 · Crystal Jade says staff are being offered redeployment where possible
Crystal Jade told Singapore media that affected employees were informed directly and are being supported with redeployment opportunities within the group where possible.
The company also reiterated that Singapore remains its home market and that it intends to maintain a sustainable presence here. No complete withdrawal from Singapore has been announced.
Those details matter because a run of outlet closures can easily be misread as a brand leaving the market altogether. The verified position as of 19 September is narrower: the network is shrinking and being reviewed, but 13 Singapore restaurants remain listed.
05 · A much smaller local network than a decade ago
Crystal Jade was founded in Singapore in 1991. In 2015, the group had 120 restaurants worldwide, including 47 in Singapore. Its current Singapore listing is much smaller at 13 restaurants.
That long-run comparison gives useful scale, but it should not be confused with the 2026 closure count. The five closures reported this year are only the latest part of a much longer evolution in the group’s local footprint.
For residents, the sharper short-term story is geographical: losing Clementi Mall and Jurong Point removes two west-side Hong Kong Kitchen options in the same week, while the remaining four Hong Kong Kitchen branches are concentrated at Causeway Point, Orchard/Takashimaya, One Holland Village and Tampines 1.
06 · What diners should do now
- Check the live outlet locator before making a special trip, particularly if an older search result still shows Clementi Mall or Jurong Point.
- For Hong Kong Kitchen, the currently listed alternatives are Causeway Point, Takashimaya Shopping Centre, One Holland Village and Tampines 1.
- If you have a booking, voucher or collection tied to a closed branch, contact Crystal Jade directly rather than assuming it will automatically transfer to another outlet.
- Watch for further network updates. Crystal Jade says its operational review is continuing and may lead to other initiatives, with details to be shared when appropriate.
There is no verified announcement of another specific closure at this stage, so rumours about which branch might be next should be treated as speculation unless Crystal Jade or the relevant landlord confirms them.
